Color + Water
I stand in awe experiencing watercolors grab the fibers of paper, fanning out to fill its home with either softly muted or boldly glorious color. The element of water, its grace, fluidity and power are the very essence of who we are.
PEACEFUL ZEN
NETTARE BLANCO Nectar Blanc, or "white nectar" in French, pays homage to traminette, chardonel and other varieties of white grapes grown on a local award-winning winery close to my home. With their French, American and German hybrid (traminette) and American origins (chardonel), these grapes vary in rich hues of luminous greens and deep yellow ochres; green upon ripening, and amber in color when fully ripe.
MEADOW It is always special to see springtime approaching while a bit of cold still lingers. Pockets of little purple blossoms blanket the sides of the road, dotted with yellow, white and pink flowers here and there. It is a reminder of renewal and the birth of new things to come.
RISING OF THE BLUE TIDE I love the water and was literally surrounded by it growing up on an island. Its wonder, calm and veraciousness has the ability to bring peace, serenity and fear. It had the ability to take two of our family homes during two separate hurricanes. Yet, I am very blessed and thankful to experience its depth and crest, and the beauty and power it can bring.
NOW I SEE Self-reflection piece, having a constant struggle for several months with how I viewed myself as a self-taught abstract artist. Very confused, fighting imposter syndrome, I decided one day that I was a painter. And I will be happy with whatever outcome that brings, whether personal growth of helping someone in need.
